Monitor Settings
Steelsonic Ping Monitor uses the parameters defined in the settings
page while performing the ICMP request for the hosts being monitored.
The program ships with the default settings which can be modified to
suit your needs.

Explanation of the parameters which can be configured is as below...
- Ping Interval Seconds : Defines the time gap between each echo request to the host being monitored.
- Ping Timeout :
Refers to the duration, measured in milliseconds, that the ping command
will wait to receive a reply from a remote host.
- Packet Size : This is the size of the packet that is sent as an payload with every ICMP echo request
- Time to Live : Time To
Live (TTL) is the lifespan of a packet being sent across the network,
measured in hops. Each time the packet passes through a host on its way
to the destination, the TTL decreases by one. If the TTL drops to zero
before the packet gets to where it's going, the packet is thrown away,
and an error message is sent back. The TTL is there to prevent a packet
that can't be delivered from endlessly looping around the internet.
- Delivery Failure : This
is the count of the number of echo requests which could fail before a
host is considered "Down". In standard settings, if a host fails to
reply to our ping echo request for 3 times then we consider such host
as "Down".
These settings are global in nature and will apply to all the hosts being monitored in ICMP ping mode.
The option "Hearbeat Monitor Interval" defines the time delay between each subsequent attempts to connect to the specific ports or keywords being monitored.
